Terms of Service

Last updated: 7 May 2026. These terms govern your access to and use of Helm services. Please read them carefully.

1. Who We Are

Helm is a software-as-a-service platform operated from London, United Kingdom. We provide a managed website content management system that allows businesses to edit and publish content on their websites without technical assistance. References to "Helm", "we", "us", or "our" in these terms refer to the operator of usehelm.host.

You may contact us at contact@usehelm.host.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Helm — including by starting a free trial, subscribing to a plan, or using any dashboard we have set up for your business — you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.

If you are using Helm on behalf of a business or organisation, you confirm that you have the authority to bind that entity to these terms.

If you do not agree to these terms, do not use our services.

3. The Service

Helm provides your business with a personalised, branded dashboard through which you can:

  • Edit the content of your website (text, images, and other media)
  • Publish changes directly to your live website
  • Manage your media library
  • Access analytics and SEO tools (Pro and Business plans)
  • Use additional modules as your plan and subscription permit

Your dashboard is made available at a subdomain of your own domain (for example, dashboard.yourbusiness.com). Helm does not operate your public-facing website — it only provides the management interface for it.

We reserve the right to modify, update, or discontinue features of the service with reasonable notice. Where a feature you are actively using is discontinued, we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email.

4. Your Account

Access to your dashboard is via login credentials (email address and password) set up by us when your account is created. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account.

You must notify us immediately at contact@usehelm.host if you suspect any unauthorised access to your account.

We may suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably believe your account has been compromised or is being used in breach of these terms.

5. Subscriptions and Billing

Helm is a monthly subscription service. By subscribing, you authorise us to charge your payment method on a recurring monthly basis.

Pricing — Current pricing is displayed on usehelm.host/pricing. Prices may change; we will give you at least 30 days' written notice before any price increase takes effect on your subscription.

Cancellation — You may cancel your subscription at any time. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period; we do not provide partial-month refunds. To cancel, contact us at contact@usehelm.host.

Refunds — We do not offer refunds for past subscription periods except where required by applicable law.

Failed payments — If a payment fails, we will attempt to notify you by email. Your access may be suspended after 7 days of non-payment and terminated after 30 days.

Website build deposits — If you pay a deposit for a website build, this deposit is non-refundable once work has commenced, unless we fail to deliver the agreed scope.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Helm to:

  • Publish or transmit any content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable
  • Infringe the intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or any other rights of any third party
  • Upload malicious code, viruses, or any software intended to disrupt or damage systems
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Helm platform or any other user's account
  • Use the service in a way that could damage, overload, or impair our infrastructure
  • Resell or sublicense access to Helm to third parties without our written consent

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access immediately if we have reasonable grounds to believe these terms are being violated.

7. Your Content

You retain all ownership and intellectual property rights in the content you add to or publish through Helm (text, images, logos, and other media you upload). By using Helm, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display, and process your content solely as necessary to provide the service to you.

You are solely responsible for ensuring that your content:

  • Does not infringe any third party's intellectual property rights
  • Complies with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Is accurate and not misleading

We do not monitor or screen your content. However, we may remove content if we receive a valid legal request or if the content violates these terms.

8. Intellectual Property

The Helm platform, including all software, design, trademarks, and documentation, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Nothing in these terms transfers any ownership of the platform to you.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from the Helm platform without our prior written consent.

9. Data and Privacy

Our collection and use of your personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these terms by reference.

We store your data on servers located in Germany (within the European Union). Transfers of your personal data from the United Kingdom to the EU are protected by the UK government's adequacy regulations, which recognise the EU as providing an equivalent level of data protection. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data.

Upon cancellation or termination of your subscription, we will retain your data for 30 days to allow you to request an export, after which it will be securely deleted.

10. Availability and Uptime

We aim to keep Helm available and functional, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

We carry out scheduled maintenance, which we will announce in advance where possible. Emergency maintenance may be required with no advance notice.

We are not liable for any losses arising from downtime or service interruption.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss or damage arising from your use of or inability to use Helm
  • Our total liability to you for any claims arising under these terms shall not exceed the total subscription fees you have paid to us in the 3 months preceding the claim
  • We are not responsible for any losses arising from your failure to maintain backups of your content or data

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other matter that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

12. Termination

By you — You may cancel your subscription at any time. See Section 5 for cancellation details.

By us — We may suspend or terminate your account and access to Helm:

  • If you materially breach these terms and fail to remedy the breach within 14 days of written notice
  • If you fail to pay subscription fees
  • If we are required to do so by law
  • If we cease to offer the service (with 60 days' notice)

Upon termination, your right to access Helm ceases immediately. We will retain your data for 30 days before secure deletion.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of Helm after that date constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

If you do not agree to the revised terms, you may cancel your subscription before the changes take effect.

14. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
